Main Mission/Result Area

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Execute tong and pumping operations.

• Inspect, service, and maintain the tong.

• Maintain the correct torque using the tong relief valve (Confirm torque value).

• Change out tong dies.

• Assist in installing the tong arm and other mechanisms that hold the tong and ensure the equipment is properly secured and maintained, and ensure the height is correct for safe operation.

• Rig up and rig down, offload, and spot equipment.

• Operate lay-down systems, counterbalance winches, and lifting equipment.

• Operate high pressure pump.

• Complete Critical Function Tests (CFT) as assigned.

• Weigh mud and check viscosity, calculate pit volumes, and monitor returns from shakers.

• Prepare for drilling / milling operations by checking valves alignment, ensuring equipment is not isolated, and assigning charging pumps, liner-cooling pumps, and pit agitators.

• Nipple up and down, maintain and assist with BOP repairs.

• Use appropriate mixing procedures and arrange mud materials and chemicals for safe use.

• Attend and take an active role in daily safety meetings.

• Report all near misses and injuries immediately to the supervisor.

• Clean up spilled oil by bailing it into barrels.

• Keep equipment’s clean and in good condition.

• Unscrew or tighten pipes, casing, tubing, and pump rods, using hand, pipe wrenches and power tongs.

• Prepare the tubing bundle.

• Keep pipe deck and main deck areas clean and tidy.

• Guide cranes to move loads about decks.

• Manually handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things.

• Regularly inspect equipment’s, structures, or materials and notify supervisors of abnormal situations.

• Performing physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of material.

• Hook tubing with appropriate elevator.

• Help the Operators to perform inventory of the equipment’s, spare parts.

• To be able to multitask and assist others when required.

• To understand and be able to implement the policies, procedures, and standards. To barricade and or have work area bonded and erect signage as required to make work area safe.

HSSE

• Participate in all HSSE intervention schemes (APIPP, Incident reporting, site visits) and awareness sessions (HSSE Meetings, events and trainings) to maintain and improve Company HSSE culture and performance.

• Understand the emergency procedure and the related requirements. 

Key Challenges

• Demonstrate a personal commitment to all HSSE procedures, and instructions.

• Ability to multitask and provide assistance when required. 

• Exposed to regular physical plant noises, smells related to repairing and inspecting plant equipment.

• Convey a professional appearance and attitude continuously.

• The incumbent will work on 21 / 21 rotation.

Competence & Requirements

• Preferably minimum CAP Level.

• The ability to quickly respond (with the hand, finger, or foot) to a signal (sound, light, picture) when it appears.

• Previous experience in the Oil & Gas sector will offer an advantage.

• Maintain a high level of safety awareness and standards in all daily duties and tasks.

• Ability to multitask and assist others when required.

• Ability to communicate effectively with Supervisor.

• Active Listening and learning.

• Bilingualism will offer an advantage
